Thawing Out

I’m being
unfaithful
to nature –

coming out of
dormancy early,
splitting into
two halves,
and sending
up flowers…

The sun says
I can live forever,
even if the crows
around me fall
to the earth
in silent
ambivalence.

I read this and frown. I look outside and see daffodils poking through the ground in a mild winter.

You look outside and see deep within not the earth, but me, disturbing something I didn't have words to express.

Thanks
